Photography: Snowy Morning

In the winter months, I want snow. Lots of it. Every night before going to bed, I check the weather to see if we’re due for overnight flakes. I was rewarded last night with a Winter Storm Warning: 7 to 15 inches in the mountains.

This morning we had four inches blanketing our yard. I pulled on my ski pants, Sorel boots, and grabbed my camera and tripod. The light was perfect – the predawn glow that when it’s snowing has a distinct blue undertone.

I was able to capture a few of my neighbors driving into work – blurring their headlights as they drove with a long shutter exposure.

It’s scheduled to snow through the day and into the night. Guess who’ll be skiing this weekend?
