Right after returning from Rhode Island (in, ahem, September) I happened upon this amazing guy at the thrift store. He was $5 – a total steal – and he came home with me.

I wanted to know more about him, so ran the above picture through Google’s Reverse Image Search but didn’t come up with a single thing. So I named him The Duke.
I’ve been on a kick of tying up loose projects ends and The Duke, stashed away in my craft closet, was dying to make an appearance. In a stroke of good luck I had a frame that would fit him well, but it was white.

Three thin coats of gold paint later and the frame was ready for a guy as classy as The Duke.

Using an X-Acto knife, I cut a mat out of brown mat board. Cutting mats with an X-Acto isn’t the easiest way to get the job done, but it does work.
The Duke now hangs magnificently in the front entry.

I feel like he is judging me. Like, if I were leaving the house his face says “oh, youre wearing THAT today? How terribly droll”

Heck yes. Or that conical rolled paper thing he’s holding.
